Olmsted’s Imprint on Montclair
June 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm| $10
The Olmsted firm designed more landscapes in Montclair than in any other New Jersey town except Newark. They include not just Essex County parks but church grounds, a swanky subdivision, private estates, a wooded reservation, and even a parking lot. Some endure while others leave just traces. This year marks the 200th birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted, making it the perfect time to explore how his aesthetic and philosophy were expressed in Montclair. Presented by Lisanne Renner, historian for Friends of Anderson Park, for the Victorian Society in America North New Jersey chapter. 7 p.m. at the Montclair Women’s Club, 82 Union St., Montclair. $10 for non-members; free for members.
